When you talk catalogs and facing pages, you are focusing on Database Publishing.
Meaning the data and or images are stored in a database and fead to a Desktop Publishing application, usually Quark Xpress or Indesign.
The solution options range from expensive (more than $1000) to inexpensive and requiring knowledge and experiience.

Yes. I use InDesign often and am very proficient in it but I am trying to not use any outside software and just export the file as a pdf. We are trying to eliminate any extra steps as our products change often and I am the only one here with any knowledge of design software like InDesign.
So, are you saying there is no way to do this in FileMaker?
You may be able to set this up by creating two sets of calculated fields for your header text and place both in your header. It won't look right in browse mode but should look OK in preview and when you print or generate PDF's.
IF ( Mod ( Get ( PageNumber ) ; 2 ) = 0 ; Get ( PageNumber ) )
If ( Mod ( Get ( PageNumber ) ; 2 ) = 1 ; Get ( PageNumber ) )
Using the same logic, you can set up additional calculation fields, but with other data being returned.
You can select different locations and text justification options for each such field, but they should only be visible on odd or even pages, not both. If necessary, you can even stack the fields on top of each other as long as the fields are set to have transparent fill patterns.
