Set Field [ YourField; "Lost" ]
Constrain Found Set
So that instead of writing a contrain set "specify" calculation? I'll give that a try and thanks a bunch...
I tend to like explicitly setting the field ( I dont store the request in the Find / Constrain / Expand etc itself )
If you were to do this in the Constrain step itself without the other steps, you would have to change the pulldown from "Find Records" to "Omit Records". The criteria would be:
I tried this and it returns records with field equal to lost. Reverse of what I want. I would like to exclude records with Lost in the field (Order Status is a drop down box with other states. I can't seem to paste my script in this message
In my constrain step can I not exclude records with Lost in the field by doing a "not equal to". I read somwhere that the syntax for not equal is "!=". Is this true?
Did you Omit the records?
True in some languages != means not equal.
In FileMaker ! has a specific purpose to find duplicates.
In a calculation, you could use <> or ≠ in FileMaker.
However in a find = has a different purpose as well and you can not use <> or ≠ like that.
That is why you Omit the records that have a certain criteria. Basically, you and removing any records that has the string "Lost" which is what you are looking for.
Yes I did the Omit. Can I paste my script here? I'm doing a multiple find in this script as well. First step is a find on a custom dialogue box for a fiscal year. Then I'm trying to strip out records with order status as Lost, like with a constrain. Your set field and omit seems to include the records
Solved it...I changed the constrain pull down to Omit, like you suggested and yippee.
So exicted I forgot to thank you:smileywink:
