Hide blank fields during printing
How do you hide fields that are blank during printing? I can't seem to get the 'sliding & visibility' settings correct so that empty fields do not appear when i print.
What sliding options are you selecting?
General rules for sliding fields:
can a field be set to slide up if it is part of a drop down list, assuming no data from that drop down list have been selected?
Yep, works just the same when you have a drop down list.
Ok. I selected a series of fields which are drop down lists. Then selected 'sliding based on all objects above', as well as 'resize enclosing part'. When i print, it still shows these fields. Where am i going wrong?
Do the fields have label text next to them? They won't shrink this way if that's what you have.
Do you have other layout objects beneath them? Have you set them to slide up also?
This won't save space, but you could do conditional formatting on the field and the label. Choose Formula Is from the drop-down and use IsEmpty(your table::your field) and set the text color to white.
My 2 cents,
