Hiding/Revealing a text box.

Post

Thanks for the help with my last query regarding the Windows login name, it works fine now.

New query, in MS access it is possible to have a text box on a layout, but set it to an initial state of invisible, and depending on various criteria set it to visible.

The closest I've found in Filemaker is custom dialogs but I don't want the user buttons.

What I'm trying to do is have a wait sign appear, whilst various background processes are taking place, and then disappear when those processes are complete.

Is there an acknowledged way of making warnings/signs appear and disappear in layouts?

PS can anyone recommend a Filemaker tutorial DVD (suitable for playing in the UK)?
