Import the images into "store by reference" containers in a related table. Now you can set up additional fields, relationships, portals etc to manage which images are displayed based on the data in your fields.
Is there any other way to access the images without importing them? We are constantly adding new images to the file structure.
You don't actually import the image, just the file path to the image. This method allows you to build links in your database to your files even though "The jpg images do not have consistent names ". Without consistent file names, you need some way to match the file to the appropriate record.
You may also be able to use a plug in for manipulating files.
You can also use the WebViewer.
Define the webviewer as:
"file:" & yourfile::fieldwithpathinit
(getting the path can be a challange, I use this but calculate what it should be based on info from my database)
Thanks for everyone's comments. I was able to make the web viewer work pretty well. Since I don't know what the file names will be (I only know where they will be located), I have the web viewer opening the folder containing the correct person's images, based on the the first and last name fields. I tried using wildcards to open the files, but the web viewer didn't like them.
Anyway, thanks again.
