      How can I exclude data with certain criteria from an export.

      Post

      I want to export a parts list for a client. He wants a list of only certain parts. I have Chevy, Chrysler Dodge etc... Is there a way to do a find that excludes just "toyota"

      for example my find request would be the following using the fields Qty and Mfr...I need the command for "not" or "not=" does it exist.

      Qty >0

      Mfr "not" Toyota

      which would bring up everthing in stock but toyota.  What operator do I use to do this. In some databases its "/=" or something like that.

      Thanks

          This can be done manually or in a script.

          Manually:

          1. Enter find mode
          2. Specify the criteria in your Qty field.
          3. Select New Request from the Requests menu
          4. Enter Toyota in the Mfr field.
          5. Click the Omit button in the status area.
          6. Perform your find.

          Scripted:

          Enter Find mode[]
          Set Field [Yourtable::Qty ; ">0"]
          New Record/Request
          Set Field [Yourtable::Qty ; "Toyota"]
          Omit Record  //in find mode this does the same thing as clicking that omit button
          Set Error capture [on]
          Perform Find []

          While I've used literal string constants with these set field steps, they can also refer to either a variable or a field with global storage specified in order to create a script that uses criteria entered by the user to perform the find.

             Excellent. Thanks a lot. I looked all over for an answer and the "omit" was staring right at me the whole time. Never even noticed it.
