You should use container fields. You can insert a link to the object in the container field if you use Insert File with the store by reference option to insert a reference to that file. Since this is a field in your table, each record will have its own container field and hence it's own link to a file.
thanks for the quick response! I'm still having a little trouble. So, I went to insert: field. there was no field type called "container". Is this something I have to make via the manage database option, if so what type, comments / options should i use. I'll keep playing with it and I may figure it out. I guess I need a more step by step way to do this. Sorry for the inconvenience and I appreciate any help you can give me.
Yes, you open Manage | Database | Fields and add a new field of type container. Then click Ok to return to your layout. If you don't see your new field on the layout, enter layout mode and use the field tool to add it to your layout.
Now, in browse mode, you can click on the new container field and use Insert File to insert a reference to an external file such as a picture or PDF file.
