Seems like they have a similar but not the same problem. Our contractors do not have access to our network, nor do they have a copy of FileMaker on their computers. I am hesitant to do either as I really don't want to be tech support for any more people, not to mention the cost of licensing.
Any other ideas on Instant Web Publishing solutions that somehow provide for an offline form to collect simple data? What the contractors are gathering is like an interview, so most answers are yes/no. But they also need to be able to type in text comments.
Thank you for pointing me to that thread; it did help me think through some ideas.
IWP won't help if they don't have Internet connection while entering data.
If you had FMP Advanced, you could give them runtimes. This way you can script practically everything for them - esp. if you decide to use e-mail as the delivery method.
We do have FMP advanced (FMP client v.10 and Server Advanced with IWP).
Can you explain more about using runtimes? We could easily use email as the delivery method (again, once users are connected to the internet).
I am really interested in learning about this an appreciate any input here as I am way out of my depth but really need to find a solution that will work for both the users and my boss!
Not sure what you are asking. The basics of runtimes are covered here and in the FileMaker Pro Advanced Development Guide that came with your application. You just need to create a solution that allows them to enter data and send it by e-mail when they are connected. As mentioned in the other threads, each user to get a runtime should also get a unique ID that will allow you to associate the received data with its source.
