FileMaker auto-save its files.
So there is no need to do a "Saving as"; you can safety trush all the .fp7 that you no longer need.
Thank you, but how do I delete the files? I can not find a delete for a file.
... drag the icon of the .fp7 file into the trash !
In Win platform you can even rigt-clich the icon and choose: Delete
I am sorry, but your solution resulted in my losing 80% of the records that I had in my original file. I find this method of problem resolution totally unacceptable.
Deleting files that you aren't using should not remove any records from the original file. The only possibility of this happening is if you had Relationships into external files. Even then, it wouldn't remove a percentage of the records. It is either all or none.
Thank you. Then why do I have to do a "find" to get all the records back into my latest file each time I open it?
"your solution resulted in my losing 80% of the records"
"why do I have to do a "find" to get all the records back"
This two citation are mutually exclusive !
If someone lose same record, there is NO way to get them back.
The files "saved as" can safety be trushed w/o any affect to the original file.
