If you are performing a find to pull up the found set of records that you want for your report, you can specify a * in the customer name field and your find will only pull up records that have data in the customer field.
No these records are created using a sub summary report with the deleted main body and then a sort is applied using an OnLayoutEnter script. When I enter a * all I get is a star under the customer name tab.
You have to first enter find mode before you enter that search operator. And you will not be able to perform such a find on this layout manually. To perform such a find:
Go to another layout that has exactly the same name in Layout Setup | Show Records From as this layout and which has the customer name field. You can create such a layout if you do not already have one.
Click Find in the status tool bar
Enter the * in the customer name field.
Click Perform Find.
Go to your report layout and sort your records.
This can also be automated by having a script perform the find and scripted finds can perform the needed find directly on your report layout.
Great thank you!!
I simply set up a script to perform a find and sort the records on layout enter.
