Set Field [YourTable::YourGlobalfield ; "" ]
I have tried this for a global field but it is not working.
When I use the Set Field step in setting up a script, this is how it comes our for me:
Set Field [Table::g_field[""]]
I clearly have more parentheses but how do they appear and how do I stop them happening?
In the calculation dialogue that comes up when you click 'Specify...' do not enter any parentheses - just the ""
Thanks, Sorbsbuster, but I did not enter those parentheses. Could I show you what happens?
I am using Filemaker 11 Pro Advanced. My script starts:
I then choose the Set Field Function and select Specify Target Field. When the box pops up, I choose g_Find Field and put "" for the Repetition. Result:
So I then try Specify Calculation instead and do this:
But then get an error message saying that an Operator is needed! I repeat it taking away the semi-colon, still get the same error message.
In short, the process does not behave the way that others have described it. Is this something to do with FM11 or is it me?
Unless you want to change the repetition, leave it as 1.
In the calculation dialogue that pops up when you click 'Specify' beside 'Calculated result', set it to be ""
(I don't think your post reads just how you intended, but no matter: that is all you have to do.)
You are a patient person and I am a dolt - my post made no sense because the screen shots I pasted in did not come out.
Thanks a lot - you have been a great help - it works at last!
