How to Change the Txt inside of a ...
Hey Guys, trying to change the TXT within i guess what is a TXT button, when i double click on it , it doesnt let me edit the inside txt. how would i do this?
I can't quite follow what your description of the problem. Text fields in filemaker can routinely be entered and edited while you are in browse mode unless you have set a specific behavior on the field to prevent this.
What exactly are you trying to do?
if it's the text on a BUTTON, make sure you are in Layout mode.
then double click on the button and you can change the text
Perhaps you want to change a button's text?
If so click the layout text tool button first then click the button and you'll be able to edit the button's text.
If you open the Business Productivity Free Kit, if you look there is a main menu. Theres Email, Contacts etc. I want to change the Contacts to say Clients. I have done what you guys said to do and nothing.
What do you see when you double click the object while in layout mode?
while in Layout mode, click on button once to select it, then click on "Arrange" at the top.
then select Unlock.
now double click on the Button and you will be able to change the text

Double clicking brings up button setup which let's change the button's behavior, but not its text label.

Nope, it was unlocked already =(.. still nada
Double-clicking while in layout mode won't cut it if there is a script or button attached. You will need to select your text tool (the T) and then single-click your button. :smileyhappy:
UPDATE: There are three responses which weren't there when I clicked to begin my post. And my post only took 30 seconds. :smileysurprised: Hey! We have no embarrassed emoticon ... life isn't complete without one.
Man, is there a tutorial on basics for FMP?!?!? :)
your my savior!! thank you!
Well that's what everyone was saying in more-or-less bits-n-pieces on-and-off. I just think you were trying to apply each thing individually. Your best bet is to read the online manual with a test file open and begin playing with things. And then study the forums (there are several). I would recommend FM Forums
I think our little "button" here is not really a button, but is a FIELD.
and that's why you can't edit the text inside.
LaRetta, where is this online manual?? :)
