Create a calculation (result is text) in your FAMILY table with:
Substitute ( List ( CHILDREN::FirstName ) ; ¶ ; ", " )
Ooops, my eyes didn't catch that it was semi-colon you wanted and no space between children. Change ", " to ";"
Actually another question, not an answer?
In a similar way, how can I append their first name and last names and can you enter a Line Break after each person?
My example:Substitute (List (CoInvestigators::CoI First Name) ; ¶ ; ", " )
I would like
First Name Last Name institution
2nd First name 2nd Last Name 2nd Institution
I'm just getting started with FileMaker.
You would go to the CoInvestigators table and add a calculation (result is text):
CoI First Name) & " " & Col Last Name & " " & Institution
... then in your parent table, it would be:
List ( CoInvestigators::thisCalc )
... the List() function provides the line breaks automatically.
Concatenate with inserted items
I’d like to have With Depth and Height values combine into one field, but would like to have an x in between each, in the form like:
For date and letters, how do you show say date of January 15 and ABC with out the year showing
Right ( "00" & Month ( Date ) ; 2 ) & Right ( "00" & Day ( Date )
But it gave me an error
You are on the right track. The Right functions contains two parameters; the string and the length.
Right ( "00" & Month ( Date ) ; 2 ) & Right ( "00" & Day ( Date ) ; 2 ) & "ABC"
For your earlier calculation, use:
Width & "x" & Height & "x" & Depth
If the values for Width, Height and Depth are 2, 68 and 5, respectively, this will result in the text string:
