How to Create "Tuxedo" Layout Backgrounds?

Layout Backgrounds, configured in Inspector when no Layout Part is selected, is a neat new feature of FMP13.

Several layout Themes supplied with the program have what I would call "Tuxedo" backgrounds: a background of solid color overlaid with a tiled image of a fading line. Examples of these themes are: Rounded-Cosmos, Semi-Rounded-Beach.

     1) How can I extract (or obtain some by some other means) the image used for the slice, to use in another theme or perhaps in another file?

     2) How does one specify both the fill-color and the fill-image for the layout background? The pop-up menu in Inspector -> Appearance -> Graphic implies that only one or the other can be specified.
