To use today's date in calculations, use Get ( CurrentDate ). To get calculations that use this function to stay up to date, click the storage options button and make the calculation an Unstored calculation. (And do not try to use it as an auto-enter calculation.)
Thanks for your comment.
I have tried that but the calculation result does not update itself when the system clock is changed. I have to change the date in the field LISTED DATE in order to get the the new answer to the calculation. This is what I have for the calculation:
If ((IsEmpty (LISTED DATE )); " ";((Get(CurrentDate)) - (LISTED DATE)))
LISTED DATE is a date entered manually into a date field.
This is all about trying to get the number of days between the LISTED DATE and the CurrentDate. It is givving the correct answer, but only if I re-enter the LISTED DATE.
Can you see what I am doing wrong?
The calculaton must be UNSTORED. This must be a field that shows "Calculation" as its field type in Manage | Database | Fields. (Not type date with an auto-entered calculation.) Open this field's calculation and use the storage options button to specify the "Do not store..." option.
