It will be very difficult to display your data where one record = 1 vertical column.
It will be very easy to display your data where one record = 1 horizontal row.
Are you sure you really need to put the records into columns?
What I want is to display the records vertically. Obviously, if that is impossible I will have to design a different way of reporting this information. But I dont want to do that unless I absolutely have to. If there is a way to display these records vertically I would like to try it, even if it proves to be difficult.
I just thought of an approach that might work.
In layout setup, you can specify a multiple column layout. This is used mainly for printing mailing labels but it could work--at least you can print and or preview the report and see the multiple columns, though you will only see one column in browse mode.
Check out your printing options in Layout Setup... to see if this works.
IT WORKED!!!! Thank you so much Phil! I'm thrilled! Now if I could just get the field labels to show up only once on the page, not repeat in every column, we'd really be in business. But I fear this may be asking too much of filemaker. I'm exploring other options to resolve this problem.
Regardless, thank you so much for your kind advice and time!
