How to disable line wrap in a text field on a form?

      Post

I have a text field on a form. I do not want the lines in this one field to wrap to the next line. How do I do that? I've searched the forum and I see a lot of questions about wrapping, but I couldn't find one with my question.

There is no simple way to ensure that the text does not wrap to the second row. You can set a limit on the number of characters that can be entered into the field, but since iiiii and WWWWW are examples of text with the same number of characters, but take up very different amounts of space, this is an imperfect solution.

Another approach is to allow the user to enter as much text as they want, but to then test for the text wrap and truncate the text to fit when they exit the field. The script for this employs a very strange and complex "Kludge" but it works, but this can be a bit frustrating for the user at times when they see some of their data disappear from the field.
