If you have a recent version of FileMaker, one way is to write a script that checks the radio button value. Then set a script trigger on the field (OnObjectEnter) specifying that script.
If[your_radio_button ≠ "yes"]
Show Custom Dialog[…]
Go to Field[…]
Thanks replying my Post
Careful. Test and see, but I think that drag and drop could still be used to modify the text in the field without tripping the OnObjectEnter trigger. You may want to reinforce this with a validation rule that rejects changes to the field if the value of the radio button is not "yes".
Very good point, Phil.
Your right, Phil. its not working when the On Object Enter Trigger. when radio button is equal to "yes" the script is not working
The OnObjectEnter trigger works except when text is dragged and dropped into the field from another source. As Phil indicated, you can add a validation rule to prevent edits using drag-and-drop.
ya i use the drop down list only. now its working but once i choose the Field it will go to another layout and onces updated the data and again it should come to parent layout itself
Main Layout Personal
the Script is
If [personal Records::Mangament Cadre = "Top Managment "]
Go to Layout ["Top Managment "(Personnel Records )]
update changes in Top Managment layout and then how i need to come back to Personnal Layout
Please Help Me
I'm afraid that I cannot understand your question with respect to the subject of this thread or is it a different problem?
Where is the radio button? Is it 'Mangament Cadre'? Is it set to "yes" or "Top Managment "? (and why is there a space after 'Top Managment'?)
Is the field with the OnObjectEnter script trigger…on the 'Top Managment' layout?
What is the field called?
What does your script with the OnObjectEnter script trigger do? Can you post a copy of it?
