What happens where there is more than 1 criteria?
I do this fairly frequently, but it does take a significant amount of design work to support:
Create a layout specifically for specifying find criteria.
Make each field on this layout a global field.
Write a script that uses each value entered into one of these fields to construct a your find request(s) and perform the find.
Since your criteria are now all entered into global fields, you can display the relevant find criteria on your "found set" layout.
There are a number of "enhancements" of this basic technique possible.
You can pop the layout up in a new window to create a "floating search palette" tool.
You can give the global fields value lists and other formatting taylored specifically for the search process--which could be different from data entry.
I just found a simple answer: Answer ID 2893.
