Set Variable [$ShopID ; value: FirstLayoutsTable::shop_id ]
Go to Layout ["Layout two" (LayoutTwoTable) ]
Set Field [LayoutTwoTable::Shop_id ; $ShopID ]
A date field can be set up to auto-enter the creation date and that field can then display today's data in the new record.
where do i set the variable?
What do you mean by that?
It's set right in the script that I posted.
Ah, ok. Currently i am using a trial version of Filemaker Pro Win.
Even Scripts are not edditable or I was not able to find how.
Do i need the Advanced version? I just ordered it...
The trial version is fully functional. You can use Manage | Scripts to create new scripts and this works just like Advanced. (Though advanced offers some very valuable developer tools that you don't get with regular FileMaker so it was a good thing to get.)
in the script editor i cant edit anything. i can only use the available scripts and edit their options.
but there seams to be no field to type in new data.
There's a "New" button for starting a new script that will bring up this same dialog, but empty so that you can build your own script. You double click a script step listed on the left to add it to your script in the box on the right. While a step in your script is highlighted, you can use the script step options section to specifiy the needed details for that script step.
here is the only field where i can put something in,
That is not the case. Your last image shows the dialog box for defining a calculation--not a script.
To repeat, double click a listed script step in the list of steps in your script editor to add them to your script. What you have to keep in mind is that your script editor is NOT a text based editor. It's all a point and click user interface.
now i got it! :)
Yes! it works! I thank you so much!
Not only that it was nearly impossible to find it out byself it also teached me the last missing key to understanding the very basics.
I am currently running trough a 4 hour video workhsop which is very old (maybe version 10) and even on a mac, so i cant 100% compare what its telling me.
