Open Manage | database | relationships.
Double click the relationship line of the relationship on which this portal is based.
Clear the "Allow creation of records via this relationship" check box for the portal's table in this relationship.
Thanks, Phil, but I didn't explain it very well… right now I have a portal that looks like this (see attached screenshot), as soon as I start typing in one of the rows it populates another row beneath it. Because I have a script that say none of the fields can be empty, this automatic start of a row means whenever I click on the "Next" button, it prompts me to answer all the questions?
That is exactly what my suggested solution is intended to prevent. The "blank row" that automatically appears is the "add row" provided by FileMaker whenever "allow creation of records via this relationship" is specified for the portal's table occurrence.
You either accept that as a standard feature of Filemaker, or you clear the check box and add a button to your layout that uses a script to add new related records to your portal's table.
Oh, okay, can I also ask, why is it that this screen for the portal always light blue even though the background color I picked for it is yellow?
What version of FIleMaker?
What theme are you using? (If Filemaker 12 or newer)
Do you have the "Delineate" check box selected in layout setup?
How exactly did you specify the yellow color?
