Title

How to get same calculation regardless of different TOs?

Post

Oddly, if you set up a calculation field that only uses other fields in the same table, the calculation only works for ONE Table Occurrence (TO) in the database.  How do you set up such a calculation field that maintains the same calculation across all TOs?

For example, my "References" table has a "FullCitation" field that is calculated as a concatenation of other fields in the SAME table:  Author, Date, and Title.  I have another TO, based on the References table, called "ReferencesForSpecies".  However, "FullCitation" is not calculated for this table.

This seems like a major bug in FileMaker.  And it is very frustrating.  Are we supposed to generate a special calculation field for the same calculation for EVERY Table Occurrence?  Or is there something fundamental that I am missing?

Many thanks for insights and help!

Dave
