How to kill (not show) field boundaries upon field entry
I have a checkbox field and I do not want the field boundary to show when the field is selected. How? Thank all in advance for any assistance. Can find nothing in FM Help.
Enter Layout mode and open Layout Setup...
There's an option there: "Show field frames when record is active" that you can disable.
Been there, done that... still get the field boundary when entered. see pics below
HERE IS THE SETUP----------------------
HERE IS THE RESULT - NOTE THE BOUNDARY SHOWING ON THE "SHOW REFERENCE" FIELD----------------------
Can't see your images. You might try editing your original post and uploading them there.
sorry.. images were tiff's... I changed to jpegs... now can u see?
Nope. The images have to be loaded to a share site and then you use a link to the share site to post the images. If you edit your original post to include those images, you won't have to deal with that complication.
btw... the fields are global fields but there is also a non-global text field where the same thing occurs. Also, there are NO borders whatsoever defined for the fields but I always get the boundary when any field is entered.
Yep, I think that's just the way FileMaker works--whether you want it to work that way or not.
There is a rather cumbersome work around just for radio button and checkbox fields:
You'd remove the field from the tab order and use behavior settings in the Data tab of the Inspector to deny entry into the field. Then you'd place invisible buttons on top of each check box or radio button field that would run a script that added/removed the specified value from the field. Since you've never entered the field, you wont see that border.
ahhh yeah... nice workaround...
