How can I create a summary view of a table that returns only the top 10 records in sort order and and can provide summary totals of them?

               Option 1:

Use a portal with only 10 rows and specify the needed sort order either in the relationship or portal setup.

               Option 2:

Perform a find to find your records

               Sort them

Then use Omit Multiple records to omit all but the first 10 records.

But those "summary totals" may be a significant complicating factor. What records in what table would provide the data for those summary totals?

If all the data is in a single table, you aren't limiting your view to 10 records, but 10 groups of records as determiened by a summary value in a summary field. This can be done, but it's a much more complex undertaking. If that's what you are dealing with, please describe what you are doing in more detail.
