There are several "visibility tricks" you can use to hide and reveal a layout objects such as your drop down list formatted field.
One method is to create a small tab control with two tabs and use the Name box at the top of the Inspector's position tab to give each tab a name. Place your field in the second tab and it will be hidden from view. The script step: Go To Object ["tabObjectName"] can be used to select the tab and reveal the field. The tab itself can be made invisible and an OnObjectModify script trigger set on your radio button field can perform a script that checks the value selected in the radio button field and then hides or reveals it accordingly. You'll probably want to use an OnRecordLoad trigger on the entire layout to perform the same script so that changing records will automatically hide/reveal this same object consistent with the current value of the radio button field.
You can do similar tricks with a one row portal by using your triggered script to manipulate a value used in the portal relationship or a portal filter to hide/reveal layout objects.
I created the two tabs.
I gave each tab object a name, "HTCSelectSee" & "HTCSelectNoSee".
I placed my drop down field behind tab, "No See".
I created a "If [...... = "HTC"]
Go to Object [Object Name:HTCSelectNoSee]
Go to Object [Object Name:HTCSelectSee]
What else do I need to do?
I am a bit confused.
Use this as your script:
If [yourTable::YourRadioButtonField = "HTC"]
Go to Object ["HTCSelectNoSee"]
Go to Object ["HTCSelectSee"]
Assign the two triggers I described, OnObjectModify and OnRecordLoad to perform this script.
That worked, but how do I hide the 2 tab Object?
I do not want that to be visible.
In layout mode, you can select the tab control and then select border and fill colors/patterns to make it invisible. There are drop downs on the right hand side of the formatting bar for doing this.
I changed the color and took out the borders.
But only problem arises.
When the other tab is selected it has a different shade of the color I choose.
How do I make it uniform so you can't tell it is a tab?
Select and set these properties for each tab in the tab control.
Ok, I had to change the fill pattern to the first selection.
A problem arose.
When ever I navigate through the records my "Status Toolbar" disappears. I could only click on the navigate button once to go to the next record and when I go to the next record my "Status Toolbar" disappears. But if I go to a differrent layout and navigate through the records that does not happen. How can this be resolved?
Nothing posted in this thread would modify the visibility of your status area. If you have either an OnRecordLoad or OnLayoutEnter script trigger performed script, check that script for either of these script steps:
