You can't populate a FIELD with RECORDS. A record is made up of many fields.
You might, on the other hand, create 10 records in a related table shown in a portal from such input. In general, putting 10 lines of data into a single field is not a good idea, though there can be exceptions.
Can you describe in more detail what you are trying to do?
Actually you are helping me with my other question and they are on the same database.
Going along with the production truck database I am attempting to create I would like the user to define certain parameters like how many inputs there are, how many outs, how many devices, etc there are so only that number are displayed when filling things in.
That does not change my suggestion that this should be a set of related records in a portal. Do you know how to set up a portal for this?
Portals are a very basic interface feature in FileMaker so it's a good idea to learn how to use them. So I suggest looking this up in FileMaker help and any training materials that you have and then report back for a discussion of how to specify a number and get that many rows in your portal. (Though it's also possible to set this up so that the user simply adds more rows in the portal as he goes along.)
And a portal isn't necessarily the only possibility here, but I'm 95% sure that it's your best bet for this particular project.
