How to reset all values in a field to a new value
I'm sure I've seen this in a thread before, but can't find it.
A text field currently contains AB and we want all these to be changed to AC. How do we do it?
if they ALL should be AC, why use a text field and not a calculation? Just a thought. :womanhappy:
If only fields with AB should be change, perform a find first for the AB records then use Replace Field Contents.
"how does one change say blank to AP"
you would need to perform a find for "=" (without the quotes) in that field. That asks FM to find all blank fields. Then run your Replace Field Contents() ... and do so when not served or no Users are in system or you might get record lock and the field won't change for that particular record. :womanvery-happy:
Thnaks for your input STELLA, but using a calculation like Case(PaidPolicy=" ";"XX") doesn't work, as Filemaker doesn't recognse " " as a blank and it wont accept "=" without the quotes as you suggested, or have I misread your message?
