I've tried the second option several times and no result. It looks like it should work, but the variable in the main table is not getting populated.
Try walking me through the basics. I have set up a relationship with a variable in both tables as the link. I have set the variable with auto-fill based on the relationship. nothing is happening however.
Thanks in advance.
You'll need to describe what you have and what you want to do in a lot more detail.
Thanks for responding.
I'm doing an analysis of 2007 cause of death statistics. My source table has a cause of death code. My look up table has the same cause of death codes and then in this different field the decoded meaning of the code.
i want to use the lookup table to populate a field in the original table with the decode value.
does this help
Do you have this relationship (But with your names in place of mine)?
Main::DeathCode = CauseOfDeath::DeathCode
Are the DeathCode fields both the same data type? Either both text or both number? (Use number if your death codes are strictly numeric, use text if letters are part of the code.)
And then what did you select for field options for the text field that is intended to look up the "explanation" text from CauseOfDeath?
