Impact of Relating to an External table on same local drive
What is the time impact of referencing and creating relationships to other FMP tables on the same local drive rather than the same tables imported into a FileMaker application?
One of my FMP applications - SURVEYS - currently imports two tables (ORGS and USERS) with several relationships between SURVEYS and the other two.
I am working on another FMP application that will also need to reference USERS and ORGS with several relationships. Rather than import them into this new application, I would like to reference them but I'm wondering if there will be noticeable performance penalties.
The ORGS table has about 20,000 records. USERS has about 50,000.
All tables will be on the same local drive.
I don't think that you'll see much of "hit" if any due to using separate files for your data as opposed to putting all of this in one file, but "your mileage may vary".
