I was able to successfully connect with an older version of AccountEdge/Premier Accounting. Is there some log file or debugger that can be run to figure out what might be causing this - some more specific error logging?
Hi Did you resolve this issue, having same issue with Account Edge in US, no issues with Australian version
It's resolved in an update in the 2011 version of AccountEdge in the US and I believe in the Canadian version as well. After running the update you should pick up a new ODBC driver.
After running the update, if there seems to be a problem, you could go to C:\MYOBODBCUS11 and do a Get Info on the two dlls, myobodbc.dll and mystpl.dll. They both should be at leasst 11.0.2.
Thanks Tom, client is on AccountEdge 10, cannot see those DLL's, is it worth talking to AccountEdge people in US about the ODBC.
I believe that at least the myobodbc.dll should be there. If not, sounds like ODBC isn't installed so a reinstall might be in order. You can also look to see if the ODBC install was installed with AccountEdge. Pretty sure it's there somewhere. However the original filemaker issue I think is only solved with moving to a new version.
You can get free email support on accountedge.com/support. They should be able to help.
Thanks, ODBC works fine with Excel, the issue is connecting to FIleMaker.
Did you try with AccountEdge 12?
It will only work with the driver that was updated with the 2011 version. It won't work with v2010 or earlier.
Downloaded a trial of AccountEdge 12, I needed to install in three systems being used as TS Servers.
1. Windows Server 2008 64 bit - ODBC works with FM
2. Windows Server Standard 2007 32 Bit SP2- The account and password you entered cannot be used to access this file. Please try again."
3. Windows Server Standard 2007 32 Bit SP2- The account and password you entered cannot be used to access this file. Please try again."
Very frustrating. As there is no issue with Excel connecting to the systems the problem would appear to have something to do with FileMaker's validation process.
