IMPORTING AND GROUPING A NUMBER LIST FROM ANOTHER TABLE

      Post

This is probably a "scripting" issue and I have no clue about scripting.

I have a number list ranging from 1 through 10, including the number of times it was ordered (1:12), on table titled TenOrig.

What I'm trying to do is group particular numbers together on another table titled GroupNums.

      TenOrig list example:

      1 : 12

      2 : 13

      3 : 12

      4 : 13

      5 : 13

      6 : 16

      7 : 16

      8 : 12

      9 : 16

      10 : 16

      In the "GroupNums" table I want to group 1, 3, 8, then 2, 4, 5 and finally 6, 7, 9, 10.

      GroupNums list example:

      1 : 12

      3 : 12

      8 : 12

      2 : 13

      4 : 13

      5 : 13

      6 : 16

      7 : 16

      9 : 16

      10 : 16

You'll notice I've included a "space" between the groupings – is that possible?

You need the two values in separate fields. If you can't import it that way, you can write calculation fields that extract each value so that you can specify them for sorting instead of your combined field. You'll also need to specify Number as the return type for these calculations.

          Left ( YourField ; Position ( YourField ; ":" ; 1 ; 1 ) ) will extract the first number

          Right ( YourField ; Length ( YourField ) - Position ( YourField ; ":" ; 1 ; 1 ) ) will extract the second number
