Inserting returns for each space

Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I have a string

Sometimes there are leading or trailing spaces so I trim it

But I also want to insert a carriage return for each space
However, when I use the following script, it always displays

it as follows in the respective portal....

     Substitute ( TrimAll ( $Variable; 1 ; 0 ) ; " " ; ¶ )

So lets's say my variable is " Jack Jill Sam Tom"

My $variable is still "Jack Jill Sam Tom"

     I want it to be....

I use a setField command to place the above value

     Thanks for any help
