What exactly did "they" tell you when they suggested that you post here? That they no longer support FileMaker 7?
Are you using FileMaker 7 on a Windows 8 platform?
FileMaker 7 is very, very, old--latest version is FileMaker 12 and I do not know if it will even work on Windows 8 without encountering issues...
They told me that they are sorry for the licensing issue and that they no longer support FMP7. Said there are people on the forums that regularly use ver 4 and could/would help.
I am attempting to use it on a Win8 platform. I realize that it may not work, I could then of course use a dual boot scenario to resolve it. The problem is that you can't install version 3 on a non-16bit compliant pc which even when I dual boot won't resolve as I don't have a really old copy of Windows to use.
Just was hoping that someone on here had figured some work around about installing the older version of software so the newer version will work. According to the technical support line the new versions have been resolved to not have this problem as they realized the licensing system was flawed.
Are you sure that you need that older copy to install? Current upgrade installs will go ahead and install if you first enter the license key from the original installation. At least that's what I've read here in the forum.
Definitely sure. Enough so, that FMP apologized to me for it :(
I think "regularly use v4" is a major exaggeration on their part. I don't currently know of any regular forum member that uses a version that old.
You may have to use xp compatibility mode to get this to work for you.
