If the computers are new, and they all exhibit the same symptoms, it is likely that upgrading FMP is the only option.

Rosetta must be installed. It should be prompted when installing.
Starting in Safe Mode, login as an administrator and try the install again is my only suggestion.
Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is fundamentally different than the earlier Snow Leopard versions. It added the App Store among other things.
Looking at these links suggests upgrading is the wise choice.
