      Instant web publishing issue

      Post

I just tried to publish my database using iwp and everything looked good but the fields that are sums of other fields simply wont work. i.e amount field * rate field.

The host computer is a mac running osx 10.4.11

I tried to accessed the database with safari 3.1.2 and firefox 2.0.0.17

      What`s the deal?

          Thank you for your post.

I don't have enough information to determine what is wrong.  The calculation fields should display.

Create a new database file, one table, and create three fields:

          Amount (Number)

          Rate (Number)

          Calc (Calculation:Number) = Amount * Rate

Enter one record, and enable it for Instant Web Publishing.

This is a simple database, and everything should display, including the calculation field.

If this doesn't work, then there is something else going on with your copy of FileMaker Pro.  If this does work, then there is something wrong in your original database file, and we'll need to do some further sleuthing.

            Thanks,

I tried it with the same results. It will display the record i created locally and will let me edit the amount and rate fields but it will not recalculate the changes. Im at work now so i have had a chance to login with Internet explorer as well. Also i am using a trial version of FMP9.

            Thanks for your help

One other thing...the sum field dosen`t show up on the brower as a field. the amount and rate fields have frames and the sum does not.

              Thanks again

                Thank you for the clarification.

Are you sure you are not in Edit mode?  On the left side, does it show the Layout, View as:, the book to skip between records, etc.?  Or, do you have Submit and Cancel?  If the latter, the the calculation won't display anything until after you press Submit.
