Not as a simple setting you can turn on and off. You can create your own custom approach to managing your modification dates, but that requires some scripting and interface design to make that possible.
There is a simple way.
Instead of checking the auto-enter option of a Modification TimeStamp, check the auto-enter option of a calculation like this:
trigger = field1 & field2 & ... FieldN ;// put here ALL the field names except that date field updated by the Replace command
Get ( CurrentTimeStamp )
Interesting! Which means that any field not listed in the trigger expression can be modified without triggering the update of the timestamp?
But what if the script needs to modify a field that should trigger the timestamp update if a person changes it manually?
