Is there a calculation to pull a value from a field in a portal?

### Post

Have been working on this for a month!!!

Is there a calculation to pull a value from a field in a portal?

Wow.

This can be done, but I need specifics. Since a portal can display many related records, how would you determine which row in the portal contains the data you want to "pull"?

Our goal is to get everyone of these number fields in the portal and use them in a calculation field to go back in the portal.

A times B = C

A (number field) -  comes from a different table and is in the portal

B (number field) and C (Calc Field) are in current table (which displays the portal)

so (portal row 1: A)  times (constant B from main table) =  C1

(portal row 2: A)  times  (constant B from main table) =  C2

(portal row 3: A)  times  (constant B from main table) = C3

Can this work?

I'd turn this around.

Define the calculation in the portal table to refer to the "constant" field from the parent table.

define C as:

A * parenttable::B

Now calculated values C1, C2, C3 and so on can be listed in the portal.
