Can you open a New Window off screen, do the delete, and then close the window? -Dave
Its sort of a hack, but perhaps you could place a hidden portal to the related table. Make it very small, set the fill and line to transparent and don't place any fields in it. There will still be a record in it for each related record but they won't be visible.
Then you can just loop through the portal like so:
Go to Portal Row [First] Loop Delete Portal Row [No dialog] Go to Record/Request/Page [Next; Exit after last] End Loop
Wow .. that's cool man !! Thanks..
I guess while we're at it .. Can portals be used to relate to records related to them ..
In another part of the system, I'm setting a field in a table using a related set of records which I also get to using 'Go to Related Record' . Can that also be done using portals ?
So as in can I ..
Go to Portal Row [First] ( Portal which contains my related records )
Go to Related Record [ .... Layout : .... ] /* Go to the portal row's related record */ ???
Set field [ ... ]
Go to Record / Request / Page [ Next ; Exit after last ]
I'll try it myself, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Search "Go to Related Record" in the FMP help file for details on how it works when used from a portal row.
Out of curiosity, what is wrong with your current implementation? Why do you want to avoid changing contexts?
