Is there a way to do conditional formatting for tab labels?
I would like to have tab labels be grey and non-accessible based on in formation entered on front tab. Is there a way do do this? I'm using Version 10.
well in that case, I would just use hidden tabs. ( Jesse Antunes has a write up here. http://sixfriedrice.com/wp/tab-controls-without-the-tabs/ )
You can use script triggers ( if using FM10 ) to trigger a script that goes to the hidden tab that you want with your fields using Go to Object.
I have figured out how to have the tabs appear grey by placing buttons with conditional formatting in front of the tabs and using conditional formating for all of the fields on the tab, but there must be an easier way. I have always said, "If it is logical, I can make FileMaker do it." But this time, I just can't figure it out. Any ideas?
Not quite sure what you mean. Would this make the tab (and fields on the tab panel) inaccessible based on criteria on the front tab?
Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:
If a user answers "Yes" to "Does this item require mailing?" question on front tab panel, user should have access to "Distribution" tab and it's fields. If the user answers "No", text on the Distribution tab should be grey and tab panel should be inaccessible (preferred) or blank with a message that distribution information is not necessary. I have done this by placing buttons with "Do Nothing" scripts on the tabs and using conditional formating for all the fields on the tab panel. I am hoping to find a less cumbersome way of doing this.
