Regarding your comment, "second instance of the Filemaker program, installed on the second machine, the laptop, may not allow the hosting?":
I believe each of the "guest" users (up to five) desiring access to the hosted file must be running their own uniquely licensed copy of FM Pro. I've tried to access files from a second computer using a second instance of the same copy of FM and it won't allow it.
Thank you for the responses.
I tried the 5003 port and FM would not accept it.
Yes, you should be able to host a file on your laptop. Once you turn on Instant Web Publishing, make sure to select the file and allow all users to access the file. Then, users should be able to enter: http://<static ip address>:591
Thank you TSGal.
I think i need to make adjustments to the router, allowing the second computer to have access to the open ports.
