Check the data types of your global fields? Make sure that you are selecting text in a field of type text and dates in a field of type date..
What method are you using to control what appears on the portal? A filter expression or is the global field a match field in the relationship?
How exactly are they not working?
I checked the data types, they are all text.
The global field is a match field.
I can select the global match field and my value list shows up. However, when I select my value and hit submit, no records show up in the portal. The layouts and everything work fine from filemaker itself, but not on IWP. And as I said before, I have five layouts set up the same way, and three work on IWP. Could it have something to do with how I'm getting my value list options?
When you say "but not on IWP", what does happen when you select a value and click submit? Does the portal fail to update? Does it show the wrong records altoghether? Does it go blank?
Could it have something to do with how I'm getting my value list options?
I have no way to tell from here. Describe the value lists and the portal's relationship in detail? Are there any script triggers involved? (They don't work in IWP.)
The portal is blank when you navigate to the layout, and stays blank after you click submit. On the layouts that work, the matching records show up after clicking submit.
No script triggers are involved.
I have a globals table. Globals::gArtisan = Orders::Artisan. The layout is based on my globals table, the portal is from the Orders table. The value list pulls the values from Orders::Artisan and Orders::ArtisanNew.
Any portal filters?
What happens if you start a new layout and recreate one of these problem layouts from scratch? (Don't copy and paste any layout objects from one of the layouts that aren't working)
It works, that's what happens. That's frustrating. Thanks!!!
There are two possible explanations.
- Your rebuilt layout has some setting that is different from the original.
- Your original layotu has been damaged.
I hate it when the answer is so basic and I don't think of it...thanks very much for your help.
