Create two text fields, "g_OLD" and "g_NEW", and set them for global storage.
There is a script step that allows you to change the password, and you can reference these fields. For example:
Change Password [ Old password: g_OLD ; New Password: g_NEW ; No dialog ]
If the old password is incorrect, FileMaker Pro will return error 213. If error capture is not turned on, you will get a dialog box. If everything works properly, error 0 (zero) is returned. Therefore, you should turn on error capture, and then evaluate for Get (LastError) > 0. A simplistic script would be:
Set Error Capture [ On ]
