Jump to portal record detail from double clicking item

      Post

In Delphi, there is a "double clcik event" which allows the developer to code an action for when the User double clicks on an item or record.

Is there such a thing in filemaker - using FMP v 10 on Windows XP SP3.

If one has a client table and a policy table, related by client ID and the client view has a portal showing just the policy numbers , start date and premium due of all policies for the selected client,(and space below to show the policy detail ) I want to be able to let the User double click on a portal policy number and that action should then display the policy details on the same screen.

Not natively in Filemaker. There might be a plug in for this if you search around.

Alternatively, you can set a script to run differently depending on whether a modifier key such as Control or Shift is held down.

Your first line of your script would look like this:

          If [Get ( ActiveModifierKeys ) = 1 /* Shift key is down */]

            # do the things you want to happen when the user holds down shift key

          Else

            # do the things you want to happen when user just clicks the field, If you just want the user to be able to edit the field, use Go To Field to place the cursor in the field

          End If

You can then select the field in layout mode and use Button setup... to specify that this script be performed when the field is clicked.
