Layout Design : Creating Records in Related Tables
I have created a simple database that consists of (2) Tables - Customers and Orders. These two tables are linked via a "Customer Number" field. What I would like to do is create a layout that has two panes - the left pane would show customer information and have a button to add new customers. The right pane would show the currently selected customer's orders - only one at a time (like a page) and have a button to add an additional order.
The problem that I am encountering is that the form is based on the "Customers" table so anytime you click a button to add a new "order" it creates a blank record in the customer table. The question is: "How do you design a layout that is based on customers table that will allow you to add multiple entries in the orders table?
I would prefer not to use a portal on the layout for orders and would like instead to have a single order shown with buttons to advance forward or back in the order history.
