      layout drop down list

I've noticed visual divisions between different groups of layouts in the layout drop down lists of the starter solution database files. How do they do that?

It is just a layout with a name of "-" (just a dash, no quotes). FileMaker shows these as a "separator line". It is good form to base a "separator layout" on the same table occurrence on the graph as the succeeding layouts. That is, if it is followed by several "Client" layouts, then it should be based on the main Client table occurrence. This does not matter as far as functionality, but it looks a heck of lot better when you look at the Manage Layouts list. An alternative is to base all separators on something like a Globals or Constants table (if you've got one, likely you should :-).
