      Layout not formatting to print

      Post

I have a layout that is a table of statistics. Each statistic is just a count, but there are 5 variables that go into each count, and they're each drawn from several different tables. I developed a script that will run a series of finds to generate each statistic. It then stores the result in its own global field in a separate table. The totals fields in this table are calculated based on the other fields. There are 18 different figures I need to generate and 13 that are calculated on those figures.

The figures go in a report that looks something like this:

                             Group A        Group B
           range 1        #                      #
           range 2        #                      #
           range 3        #                      #
           subtotals             ##                  ##
           range 4        #                      #
           range 5        #                      #
           range 6        #                      #
           subtotals             ##                  ##
           Grand totals        ###                ###

I set up a layout in this format. All of the fields on the layout are globals. Then I discovered that I can't print the layout. The print option is grayed out and the print preview is blank. Is this because all the fields on the layout are globals? Problem is, I can't see any other way of generating the stats I need.

           What to do? I'm baffled.
