What I want: I'd like a layout that is divided in half vertically. The upper half I'd like to look like a form view. The lower half I'd like to have tabs with what looks like lists in them. It sounds like a typical portal setup but I'm running into problems.
The function of the the form is such that I'd like to enter a new transaction record in the upper 'form' area but then see it "added/show-up" in the list on the bottom half of the layout. I'd like a scroll bar on the list (just like a portal).
When I try to do this in the traditional way I create a layout based on my transaction table and then try to create a portal based on the same table but the transaction table option on the portal setup is fogged. I haven't done it before, but is this an instance where I need to create a 1:1 relationship with another TO based on my transaction table? If not, what path should I follow?
A portal requires a relationship. You have to have a relationship linking your layout's table occurrence to an occurrence of your portal's table before that can be used. Note that table occurrences are not tables. You can link a table to a second Tutorial: What are Table Occurrences? of the same table.
