Okay, that's definitely the way I would like to go with the access permissions. But how would I do access permissions for portals? The line item databases don't have a Creation Name field. How would I do it without creating one?
My quoters have asked me if it's possible to allow all quoters to have read access to any record
but to only be able to write to records that they have created.
What feature do you currently have in place to tell the difference between a quote I wrote vs. a quote someone else wrote? That feature is what you'll build the priviliges around.
If you don't have one yet, create an autoenter field on the table that your quotes are based on and set it to autoenter Get(AccountName) and you can use that.
Please write back and tell us that each "quoter" is using a different account and password...
Since the line items belong to the quote record, you can just check to see if they are the user in the related quote record. Also as a side note, it is generally a good idea to keep track of user/date create/modify in all your tables. It always helps in auditing or when you need to troubleshoot.
