Curious to know if this part of the Button Setup can be controlled by any scripting options. I basically want to know can an “If” or “Case” be used to not show the hand based on some condition. I know it will remain a button but not having the hand based on differences on the screen would be good for now.

Not through button setup. You could put two copies of your button object inside different panels of an invisible tab control. The hand can be enabled for one button and not the other. A script could use go to object to select one panel or the other of the hand control to create the illusion that the hand cursor has been enabled/disabled.

You might find this demo file showing different ways to make a layout object appear/disappear of interest: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8levaz6deiyzjr8/LayoutObjectVisibilityControlDemo.fp7

If you are using FileMaker 12, you can use Open from the File menu to open this file and get a copy converted to the .fmp12 file format.
