Google "filemaker table view limitation"
There is talk about a 8000 pixel limit.
Maybe page layout setup? unknown
Maybe characters in column name? unknown.
It would seem that if you bump into this limitation, maybe the database design should be optimized?
There is a limit, it depends somewhat on the width of your columns in table view.
Here's a thread on the subject:http://forum-en.filemaker.com/t5/Using-FileMaker-Pro/Showing-all-fields-in-table-view/m-p/5422/highlight/true#M4193
I appreciate your reply. There is a definite limit on the pixels, a tad over 8000. In today's world of spreadsheets, wide screen monitors, spare ram, this seems like a limiting factor for such a powerful db manager.
As far as optimizing the database, this is the reason for the 92 fields. I exported my contact file from Outlook 2003 into an Excel spreadsheet. It had a total of 92 fields. Then I carried this spreadsheet to the Mac Side. My goal was to rename fields in an existing filemaker db to match those in the imported Excel spreadsheet. Make changes to the db on the Mac Side, export as Excel, carry back to PC side and then import that doc back into Outlook. In my simplistic way of thinking, the customization of fields in Outlook is the root of the problem, being almost impossible to change. Any, thank you so much for your time.
I don't see where table view's limitation in this area keeps you from doing what you want. Even though you can't see all the fields at one time, they are there and should have the data you expect from the excel file. You simply need more than one layout for viewing/editing the data in them.
